Lady Mustangs host awards night banquet

The Coastal League co-champion King City Lady Mustang softball team met one last final time for an awards night and team banquet last Thursday night in the high school cafeteria.

The Gilroy High Mustangs baseball team took a commanding first inning lead to hand the King City Mustangs an 8-0 defeat in the first round of the Central Coast Section Division II Playoffs. King City ended the season with an overall record of 19-8.

KC on the road for playoffs

Wins in the final week of play earned the King City Mustang baseball team a #12 seed in the Central Coast Section Division II playoffs that begin today. The Mustangs will start the playoffs on the road in a 3:30 p.m. game with the host Gilroy High Mustangs. Gilroy earned the #4 seed in the division.

Mustangs win last MTAL championship

A sixth straight championship also meant an end of an era for the King City boys track and field team. The Mustangs won the Mission Trail Athletic League in what was the last championship meet for them in the MTAL as next year King City, Gonzales, Greenfield and Soledad will be members of the Pacific Coast Athletic League.

Mustangs contending for spot in playoffs

This is playoff week as far as the King City Mustang baseball team is concerned as wins over the Carmel Padres at home and away will mean a spot in the Central Coast Section playoffs.

Lady Mustangs in first-place tie with Greenfield

Wins over Greenfield and Anzar gave the King City Lady Mustangs a 10-4 league record and in a first-place tie with the Lady Bruins in the Coastal League standings.

The King City boys and girls track team took first place at the Thursdayā€™s Daines Stireman Meet at War Memorial Stadium in King City.
