Monterey County Works announces June job fairs

MONTEREY COUNTY — Job seekers will have several opportunities to connect with employers during a series of job fairs and recruitment events hosted by Monterey County Works throughout June.

The events, which do not require advance registration for job seekers, are designed to help attendees meet employers in person and explore career opportunities in a variety of industries.

The first event, an industry recruitment focused on transportation jobs, will take place June 3 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Salinas Career Center, 344 Salinas St., Suite 203. A multiple-employer job fair is scheduled for June 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the same location in Suites 205-206.

Additional events include a healthcare industry recruitment on June 17 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Suite 203 and another multiple-employer job fair on June 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Suites 205-206.

SPCA offers low-cost mobile spay, neuter clinics

SALINAS VALLEY — SPCA Monterey County will offer low-cost mobile spay and neuter services in Greenfield and King City in June, providing affordable surgeries for local pet owners.

The mobile clinics are scheduled for June 4 at the Greenfield Cultural Arts Center, 215 El Camino Real, and June 17 at the King City Recreation Center, 401 Division St.

The cost is $75 for dogs and puppies and $35 for cats and kittens. Fees include surgery and rabies vaccination. Services are available for pets 2 months to 6 years old weighing 2 to 30 pounds. The clinics are open to all Monterey County residents, and Spanish-speaking assistance will be available.

Appointments require a deposit to reserve a spot. Registration is available at spcamc.org/mobile.


Market Street highway onramp set for overnight closure

SALINAS — Motorists traveling through Salinas will encounter an overnight closure of the Market Street onramp to southbound Highway 101 on Thursday, June 4.

The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the same period, the No. 2 (right) lane on southbound Highway 101 near Market Street also will be closed.

Caltrans said message and directional signs will be posted to alert drivers in advance of the closures. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.

“These closures are necessary for crews to perform repairs to drainage infrastructure and enhance erosion control efforts,” Caltrans said.
