King City in Bloom is proud to support Measure P because we believe a thriving community depends on a strong, fully staffed city.

Our City has done a great job of managing its budget and being responsible with taxpayer dollars. But today, our community’s needs are greater than the resources available to meet them. Without additional revenue, we worry that important services — including the maintenance and improvement of our parks, streetscapes and public spaces — will continue to face difficult challenges.

Beautification takes more than volunteers and vision. King City in Bloom is made up of citizens who care deeply about our town and have worked hard to create beautiful spaces throughout our community. But those projects also depend on City staff and Public Works to maintain them. A beautiful community requires ongoing care, and that work requires adequate staffing and resources.

We can see what is possible in neighboring communities, such as Soledad, where a higher sales tax has provided additional resources to make investments in parks, streetscapes and other community improvements. King City deserves the opportunity to make those same kinds of investments in our own community.

We believe a local sales tax is one of the fairest ways to generate additional revenue because it allows everyone who shops in our community — including visitors — to contribute to the services and improvements that benefit King City.

If Measure P does not pass, we believe the appearance and upkeep of our City could take a significant step backward. The beautiful spaces our community has worked so hard to create need to be maintained, and our City needs the staff and resources to keep King City looking its best.

King City in Bloom is made up of citizens who care about our town and want to see it flourish. We invite our fellow residents to join us in supporting Measure P.
