SALINAS VALLEY — California International Airshow Salinas Board of Directors introduced its new Executive Director Kristine Ware during a press conference Jan. 28 at the Salinas Municipal Airport.

“I step into this role with deep gratitude, excitement and a strong sense of responsibility,” Ware said. “As a nonprofit organization, the California International Airshow exists to serve our community — and I am honored to help steward that mission.”

Ware is local and brings an impressive background in leadership and community service into the role. She holds an MBA from Valar Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from San Jose State University, with minors in business and human resources.

She has served as a program manager at DeVine Consulting, overseeing government contracts, as executive director of Ave Maria Senior Living and as director at Monterey Bay Village, supporting aging adult programs.

“Kristine’s experience, professionalism and passion for community make her an outstanding fit for the California International Airshow Salinas,” said Airshow Board President Mike Hodges.

“This organization carries a powerful legacy built on vision, dedication and public trust, and I am proud to help guide its next chapter with care, transparency and purpose,” added Ware.

Outgoing Executive Director Harry Wardwell was recognized as a pivotal leader of the Salinas Airshow. He retired from the role in December 2025.

“Harry Wardwell, thank you for your guidance, dedication and leadership. You have helped shape this airshow into more than an event — you’ve helped make it a family,” said Hodges. “Your commitment and mentorship have left a lasting impact on every director and volunteer involved.”

During the press conference, Jim Gattis was also recognized for his induction into the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) Hall of Fame in Las Vegas this past December.

The Salinas Airshow is set for Sept. 26-27, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. For more information, visit salinasairshow.com.
