KING CITY — Salinas Valley Fair hosted its annual Miss Salinas Valley Fair Competition on March 26-27 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City, where Morgan Hancock was crowned the 2026 Miss Salinas Valley Fair.
Hancock, 17, is a senior at King City High School and a resident of Lockwood. Following graduation, she plans to attend Cuesta College before transferring to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she will major in kinesiology with the goal of becoming an athletic trainer.
An active member of both 4-H and FFA, Hancock has demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to her community. Her involvement in 4-H includes serving in multiple leadership roles, from recreation officer to president. In FFA, she has earned her Greenhand, Chapter Farmer and State Farmer degrees, and was recognized as Outstanding Sentinel in Opening and Closing Ceremony.
“I am beyond excited to be representing my hometown fair as this year’s Miss Salinas Valley Fair,” Hancock said. “I can’t wait to meet so many new people and connect with my community through this opportunity.”
Grace Eade of Templeton was named runner-up. A senior at Templeton High School, Eade impressed judges with her poise and dedication throughout all phases of the competition.
“Grace exhibited determination and commitment in every aspect of the competition,” said Darla Mantel, Miss Salinas Valley Fair director.
This year’s competition featured two contestants who were evaluated on poise and appearance, horsemanship, scholastics and personality. The program is designed to promote leadership, encourage community ambassadorship and provide scholarship opportunities for participating young women.
“This program continues to showcase the talented and driven youth of South County and beyond,” Mantel added. “We are proud to provide a platform that highlights their achievements while giving back through meaningful opportunities.”
Hancock will make her first official appearance as Miss Salinas Valley Fair at the annual Salinas Valley Fair Kick-Off on Saturday, April 18, an evening featuring dinner, auction and dancing in support of the fair. She will also represent the fair throughout the Salinas Valley Fair, taking place May 14-17, where she will participate in community events, the Junior Livestock Auction and festivities across the fairgrounds.
