
KING CITY — Arroyo Grande and Hollister each won two divisions at the 81st King City Invitational Track Meet on April 4 at War Memorial Stadium.
Arroyo Grande captured the boys varsity and boys frosh/soph divisions, while Hollister won the girls varsity and girls frosh/soph divisions. Host King City placed third in the varsity boys division; fifth in the frosh/soph division; fourth in the varsity girls division; and fourth in the frosh/soph girls division.
“The 81st King City Invitational was a huge success,” said King City Mustangs head coach Ismael Rocha. “Our goal is to continue building this into one of the premier meets on the Central Coast by providing a competitive, well-run experience that brings real value to each team attending. Shout out to the King City Lions Club for sponsoring the medals and awards, meet programs and providing free coffee/donuts and lunch for coaches. Thank-you to A&G Pumping for providing portable restrooms for the meet.”

In the North vs. South Coast competition, the Hollister Haybalers were the Invitational champion (varsity boys and girls combined scores). The Balers also won the Jim Stireman Sportsmanship Team Award.
Scores for the top three teams in the four divisions were: Varsity Boys: 1. Arroyo Grande 135; 2. Hollister 122; 3. King City 106.5; Varsity Girls: 1. Hollister 141; 2. Arroyo Grande 106; 3. Alisal; Frosh/Soph Boys: 1. Arroyo Grande 137; 2. Hollister 89.5; 3. Avenal 72; and Frosh/Soph Girls: 1. Hollister 177.5; 2. Alisal 89.5; 3. Lompoc 77.
High Point award winners were: Varsity Boys: Jayleen Ward (Everett Alvarez); Varsity Girls: Paige Pierson (Hollister); Frosh/Soph Boys: Xristian Pina (Arroyo Grande); and Frosh/Soph Girls: Bailey Jones (Lompoc).

Earning King City High Point Awards were: Varsity Boys: Izaiah Valencia; Varsity Girls: Rosa Pacheco; Frosh/Soph Boys: Jden Hernandez; and Frosh/Soph Girls: Giselle Aguilar.
“It takes an entire community to make this event happen, and I’m grateful for the incredible support behind it,” said Coach Rocha. “A big thank-you to Maggie Garcia, Arlen Espinoza, Faith Martinez, Dannah Pioquinto and Allen Rocha for preparing this year’s coaches lunch. We also want to recognize the King City Young Farmers for providing the salad and for cooking the beans and tri-tip; without them, we would have not had such a great lunch experience.”
