The recent storms that have wreaked havoc on California’s Highway 1 this winter will not affect the 26.2-mile route of the April 30 Big Sur International Marathon.

King City Area California Highway Patrol Officers Andrew Lamar and Brock Veillette recently received the Medal of Valor Award, the state’s highest honor bestowed upon its employees, for their 2015 heroic act in rescuing several car crash victims along a steep, densely wooded hillside at night.

Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6747 of King City led the annual Memorial Day ceremony Monday, with help from Fort Hunter Liggett staff and Mayor Mike LeBarre, to honor those who have died while serving in the U.S. military.
