CAR SHOW

SOLEDAD — Soledad Hot Summer Days, a downtown car show and street festival, is planned for Saturday, July 9, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Soledad. Presented by the Salinas Crusaders and the City of Soledad, the event will feature entertainment for the whole family, including more than 200 vehicles on display, live music, food trucks and vendors.


TOY SHOW

SALINAS — Salinas Police Activities League will host the Salinas Valley Toy Show on July 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Salinas PAL Youth Center (Armory Hall), 100 Howard St. in Salinas. There will be more than 40 vendors selling a huge selection of vintage, modern and new toys for all ages, in addition to cosplay and family fun. Admission is free. FREE FARES

MONTEREY COUNTY — For the second year, Monterey-Salinas Transit will offer free fares system-wide on all Sundays, beginning July 3 and running through Sept. 4. In addition, Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 5, will be free too. Funding of the free fares is made possible by the California Cap and Trade’s Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP) program. The LCTOP was created by the State of California legislature to provide operating and capital assistance for transit agencies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve mobility, with a priority on serving disadvantaged communities.
