FILM SCHOLARSHIP

MONTEREY COUNTY — The deadline for applying for an annual Director Emeritus Richard Tyler Film Student Scholarship Award Program for aspiring Monterey County film students has been extended for a week to April 14. The $2,000 award is being offered by the nonprofit Monterey County Film Commission and is a permanent endowment with the Community Foundation for Monterey County. Applications may be downloaded at FilmMonterey.org. The recipient of the award will be announced by May 10.

TRANSIT NEEDS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Transportation Agency for Monterey County, in partnership with Monterey-Salinas Transit, is seeking public input on unmet transit needs in the county. This annual process is required by the state’s Transportation Development Act under the Local Transportation Fund, which allocates a quarter cent of the general sales tax that is collected statewide and comes back to the county on a population basis to support public transit services. The agencies are asking community members to help define transit needs that the public transportation system is not currently meeting. Comments will be accepted through April 30, and can be submitted online at tamcmonterey.org/unmet-transit-needs. The final list of comments will be presented to the TAMC Board, prior to allocating Local Transportation Funds in June.
