KING CITY — King City Police Department’s newest sergeant, John Dow, was recently sworn in during a welcome ceremony at the station, hosted by King City Police Chief Robert Masterson.
Sgt. Dow comes to King City with 21 years of law enforcement experience and has worked in the areas of custodial facilities as a bailiff, patrol and investigations. He holds certificates from the California Peace Officers Standards and Training, the Basic Post, Intermediate Post, Advanced Post and Supervisory Post.
Also during the Nov. 27 ceremony, Chief Masterson introduced Stephen Phillips and David Rivera, soon-to-be officers with the King City Police Department. The department is sponsoring them in the South Bay Police Academy Class No. 149, which started Dec. 3 at Monterey Peninsula Community College.
Many local dignitaries attended Sgt. Dow’s swearing-in ceremony, including Greenfield Police Chief Denise Oglesby, Soledad Deputy Chief Damon Wasson, Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Darlinton, King City Manager Steve Adams, King City Mayor Mike LeBarre and King City Councilmember Darlene Acosta, along with members of the King City Police Department and employees of the city.
The ceremony was open to the public as well.
