Highway restriping project to cause delays
SALINAS VALLEY — Motorists traveling on northbound and southbound Highway 101 between King City and Greenfield will encounter alternating lane closures this week as crews conduct roadway repairs and restriping.
The closures began Monday and are scheduled to continue through Thursday, June 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Message and directional signs will be posted to alert drivers in advance of the work zones.
According to Caltrans, travelers should allow extra time for their commute and can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.
Curing of ballot signatures due Wednesday
MONTEREY COUNTY — Voters whose vote-by-mail ballots for the June 2 Statewide Direct Primary Election have missing or mismatched signatures have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, to submit a signature statement and ensure their ballots are counted.
Monterey County Elections Department said signature statements have been mailed to all affected voters and are also available online.
Voters may submit the form online, by email, fax, mail or in person at the Monterey County Elections Office during regular business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
County officials said the final certified election results, scheduled to be released Friday, June 26, will include all ballots cured by the June 24 deadline, as well as eligible provisional ballots and timely vote-by-mail ballots returned to other county election offices.

TAMC hosts workshop on Active Transportation Plan
MONTEREY COUNTY — Transportation Agency for Monterey County will host a public workshop on the Monterey County Active Transportation Plan on Wednesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartnell College.
The workshop will take place in Building D, Room 377, at 411 Central Ave. in Salinas and will introduce the countywide planning effort aimed at making walking, biking and rolling safer, more convenient and more accessible throughout Monterey County.
The meeting marks the first phase of public engagement for the plan, which seeks to prioritize infrastructure improvements for people who walk and bike. A second round of public outreach is planned for fall 2026 and will focus on gathering feedback on project recommendations and implementation strategies.
Residents can attend the workshop in person or virtually and are encouraged to provide input on transportation concerns and areas needing improvement. Community members may also submit comments through the project’s online participation portal at tamcmonterey.org/monterey-county-active-transportation-plan.
