JOLON — A C-130 aircraft fuselage recently transported through South Monterey County is set to become a new training asset at Fort Hunter Liggett, according to the U.S. Army installation and the 80th Training Command.

In a May 18 social media post, Fort Hunter Liggett stated that the aircraft is a “game-changing training asset for warrior readiness” and said the 80th Training Command’s Total Army School System, or TASS, will use it later this year for the 88N Transportation Management Course.

The military base, located near Jolon in southern Monterey County, added that the asset is intended to provide soldiers with “the most realistic, high-impact training possible to support the global Army mission.”

According to a May 15 post by the 80th Training Command, the C-130 fuselage arrived at Fort Hunter Liggett on May 14 as part of broader modernization efforts within the U.S. Army Reserve.

The command said the aircraft will support “hands-on, scenario-driven instruction for soldiers across multiple specialties,” particularly 88N Transportation Management Coordinators, who oversee the movement of military cargo, personnel and equipment through air, rail, highway and sea transportation systems.

“By integrating real world equipment into the training environment, the 80th ensures soldiers gain the practical experience needed to excel in complex logistical operations,” the post stated.

The 80th Training Command also announced plans to establish three new Army Reserve Readiness Training Centers in 2027 as part of ongoing readiness and training expansion efforts.
