KING CITY — Salinas Valley Fair has launched a search for a new chief executive officer following the resignation of CEO Lauren Hamilton, who had led the organization for the past five years.
According to Interim CEO Joe Brengle, Hamilton resigned to “pursue other interests.” Brengle has been appointed interim CEO while the Fair Board of Directors conducts a search for a permanent replacement.
In a news release issued Monday, the board said it hopes to fill the position by the end of 2026.
The CEO will oversee operations at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, which hosts the annual Salinas Valley Fair, the Monterey International Wine Competition, the MCCA Ranch Rodeo, the weekly King City Flea Market and the King City Stampede.
According to the board, the position includes responsibility for year-round events and facility operations, implementing the Fair’s long-term strategic vision and working with staff, volunteers, exhibitors, community partners and local organizations.
The board said it is seeking an experienced executive with a background in community engagement, agriculture and event management. Desired qualifications include experience in executive leadership, human resources, business administration, public relations, facility operations, marketing, budgeting, grant writing and sponsorship development.
“The Salinas Valley Fair has long been a cornerstone of our community. We are excited to find a leader that will share our passion, while helping our organization build upon more than 80 years of tradition,” Fair Board President Darla Mantel said.
Applications will be accepted through fall 2026 or until the position is filled.
