I want to write today to speak to you about what I have been thinking as this old world of ours starts spinning out of control. We can all hold hands and pray, which wouldn’t be a bad thing, but let’s try to trust God to help us keep to the path he described.

We have seen terrible things coming out of the eastern part of Europe. People by the score are being killed in an orgy of blood and gunpowder. The person, if we can call him that, has no compunction about dropping another bomb or two. He has no problem if it is babies or grown-up defenseless men and women.

He has actually said that he will employ a nuclear bomb if the United States and other perceived enemies get any closer to stopping his advance upon an innocent and weaponless population.

Truly the United States is the only country that can slow or stop his progress. However, we are also governed by a person that doesn’t seem to know what is happening.

Because of this man, I have had dreams of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Yes, I have bad dreams, but often I also dream in color. I look for the best in every relationship I have. Often I am hurt by this, but mostly the person who is hurting me will step back if I tell them how I feel. Of this particular man, I have no such reassurance.

In my mind, this person has renewed my interest of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I’ll admit that I am not now nor have I ever been a scholar of these messengers of God. However, the more I read about them, and I have been doing that too, I get a better picture of what God meant by calling upon them.

Perhaps you are very familiar with these minions, but perhaps you are like me and only have a passing knowledge of them or their duties to God. They are here because God felt they and only they could save us from ourselves.

I remember reading about them in the Old Testament. You see, when my children were born I promised myself I would read to them every night before they went to bed. They couldn’t tell what I was reading, but I remember the peace and assurance my mother would get from reading her bible and perhaps I could light a small fire underneath my offspring that they could use to light their way to reading more. It didn’t work out as I wanted, but the kids were aware of the comfort I got from studying God.

The Four Horsemen appear in the prophetic Book of Zechariah and in the Book of Ezekiel. It was here that these men were named as punishments from God. God had appeared and in his right hand seven seals. It is told that The Lamb of God opens the first four of these seals.

Zechariah sent these beings out to patrol the earth, causing it to rest quietly. The Four Horsemen were listed as “Sword, famine, wild beasts and plague.” The first rides a white horse, carries a bow and is given a crown. He symbolizes war and pestilence. The second rides a red horse and is the creator of war. The third, a merchant, is riding a black horse and he symbolizes famine. The forth rider is upon a pale horse and upon this horse rides death. Accompanying him is Hades.

They were given authority over a quarter of earth, to kill with sword, famine and plagues. They also could use the beasts of the earth. Together these riders were thought to be the harbingers of the last days.

Now, I’m not trying to get anyone nervous, but I would like to point out that if Putin were given free rein in his mad plan to destroy an entire country, these afore named men could truly exist.

Let’s try to put a little more understandable twist to my idea of these guys being around nowadays. Let’s face it, the war is already here. The first horseman could go hang up his sword because he has fulfilled his designation as war. Although I have described them as it is pointed out in the Bible, you could probably go to your bible and find another reason or three.

You wouldn’t have to look around much to see the wars that are destroying our world. Not every terrible thing is happening in Ukraine. There are wars that have been ongoing for years in some of the underdeveloped countries. The leaders of these countries, like our old friend Putin, cannot see past their noses. It is felt by a lot of cretins that the world is forever. You and I do not have to believe that as we may have in the past. Read about our Civil War. The death and destruction of that time is beyond most understanding.

Take the Second World War. We had invented the atomic bomb. We have been told that we dropped that bomb to save thousands of lives if we had invaded Japan. If you look a little closer, you will see that Japan was on their last legs. Yes, we would have lost some men. Nothing like we did when we decided to take Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima was simply an island that the leaders thought we should have as a refueling point as we bombed Japan back to the Stone Age.

Most of that country had been razed by bombing before the politicians of that era thought if they just dropped one bomb perhaps the Japanese would think we only had one bomb. So, after we had turned most of Japan to dust, we upped the anti and dropped another. Both, by the way, were in heavily populated cities. It would have worked if they dropped it way out in the country.

Politicians make some of the dumbest mistakes. For those who believe that there is a greater power than even the atomic bomb, hold on to your hat. Korea, Vietnam and all the other little people we have destroyed could have been brought to the table and peace could have flourished. Please never forget to look close at any politician who says we have to go.

Next week we’ll discuss avoiding the Four Horseman. God Bless.
