KING CITY — Last Friday the King City chapter of the VFW distributed 40 free takeout meal tickets for the Veterans Day BBQ on Nov. 11 to the King City police and fire departments.

This gift was a result of VFW member Steve Wood’s daughter Cindy wanting to purchase tickets to honor first responders. Cindy solicited donations from friends and associates that felt a need to give back to first responders that put their lives on the line to assist those in need.

The VFW said it deeply appreciates this donation by concerned citizens.

This year’s barbecue is a drive-thru on Friday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the VFW, 599 Bitterwater Road, in King City.
