BRADLEY — Bradley Union School District will host its annual Bradley Bulldog Bicycle Bonanza on Sunday, Sept. 20, with cyclists of all ages and abilities invited to ride in support of local students.
The fundraiser begins at 7:30 a.m. at Bradley Elementary School, 65600 Dixie St., and will benefit the small rural TK-8 district through funding for educational programs, classroom resources and student opportunities.
Participants can choose from three routes: a 73-mile ride featuring the legendary Quadbuster climb, a scenic 22-mile route and a family-friendly Kids Route.
Bradley USD Superintendent Josh Van Norman said the event gives the community an opportunity to support local students.
“The Bradley Bulldog Bicycle Bonanza is an opportunity for our community to come together in support of our students,” Van Norman said. “In a small, close-knit community like Bradley, our school is at the heart of everything we do. Every rider, volunteer, sponsor and donor helps create meaningful opportunities that make a lasting difference in the lives of our children.”
Bradley, one of Monterey County’s smallest rural communities, has approximately 115 residents. The school district serves as a central part of the community, and organizers said community support is important in expanding educational opportunities for students.
In addition to the bicycle rides, participants can purchase commemorative event merchandise, including cycling jerseys and T-shirts, with proceeds benefiting Bradley students. Discounted hotel accommodations also are available for riders traveling from outside the area.
Those unable to participate in the ride can support the district through donations.
