Shrek, Donkey, Fiona and an entire cast of fairytale characters took over the Robert Stanton Theater over the weekend for the Sol Treasures Children’s Theatre production of “Shrek Jr.”

Trash never goes out of style, as seen at the 2018 South County Trashion Show in which local designers let their creativity shine through 26 unique dresses made from recycled and repurposed materials.

The 58th anniversary production of “The Nutcracker Ballet” takes place Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8 and 9, at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m., at the Robert Stanton Theatre at King City High School.

Monterey County Artists Open Studio Tour expanded its self-guided journey of artist studios and exhibitions to the South County area over the weekend.

King City once again participated in the annual National Night Out campaign on Aug. 1, bringing police officers and neighbors together for one night to unite against crime.

For the first time, King City has been selected as a host city for the May 15 stage race start of the 2018 Amgen Tour of California, an annual professional cycling event featuring the world’s best cyclists competing along a course that traverses hundreds of miles of the state’s roadways.
