Remembering their sacrifice
Community members gathered Monday morning for the annual Memorial Day ceremony at King City Cemetery with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6747 and Fort Hunter Liggett staff to honor those who have died while serving in the U.S. military.
Patriotic pride
King City kicked off its annual Independence Day celebration a day early this year with the local Chamber’s fireworks show at the Salinas Valley Fair’s Stampede Arena, drawing nearly 700 spectators to the grandstand to view the display while thousands more watched from the surrounding area.
Students awarded scholarships
Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated awarded $1,000 scholarships to Bret Wilkins from King City High School and Luz Andrea Perez-Ponce from Greenfield High School.
