Fire season has begun for King City and Greenfield, with two fires reported in the area last week.

Entrance fees for Pinnacles National Park near Paicines have increased for 2018 in order to fund services and maintenance that park staff says will directly benefit visitors.
Fashion forward
Monterey County Free Libraries recently completed its Summer Reading Program titled “Reading Takes You Everywhere,” and the King City branch celebrated last Friday by hosting a fashion show for the young participants to show off their origami hats made from recycled maps.
Chavez announces candidacy for Monterey County supervisor
A new contender has entered the race for the District 3 position on the Monterey County Board of Supervisors. Alejandro Chavez of Soledad announced his candidacy Jan. 4 in front of the Soledad Pinnacles Visitor Center.
