SALINAS VALLEY — South Monterey County high school track and field teams will be entering Pacific Coast Athletic League meets this week and will all gather on Saturday at the Pacific Grove Rotary Invitational.

On Tuesday, Gonzales High traveled to Watsonville for a Santa Lucia Divisional meet at Monte Vista Christian School. Attending were the Spartans, Kirby, St. Francis and Monte Vista Christian. Results were not available at press time.

King City will host the Rancho San Juan Trailblazers on Thursday afternoon, and Soledad will participate in a Cypress Divisional meet. Greenfield had a bye week.

Next, this Saturday, March 30, all four local high schools will participate in the 54th Annual Pacific Grove Rotary Invitational at Pacific Grove High School beginning at 9:30 a.m. Other schools include Carmel, Everett Alvarez, Hollister, Marina, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Palma, Salinas, Santa Cruz, Stevenson and more.

Then, on Saturday, April 6, the South Monterey County teams will travel to King City’s War Memorial Stadium for the 79th King City Invitational.

“We are excited to host the biggest and most competitive invitational in King City in the last decade or two,” said King City head coach Ismael Rocha. “The top 36 marks will be accepted in the 100-200 meters, and the top 27 marks in other varsity marks. The top 27 will be accepted in all other events in the frosh/soph division.”
