SALINAS VALLEY — Track and field athletes from South Monterey County have qualified for the Central Coast Section (CCS) semifinals that will take place Saturday, June 5, at Soquel High School.

Athletes qualified for the semifinals after finishing in the top six at last Thursday’s Pacific Coast Athletic League’s CCS qualifying meet at Hollister.

King City High will be sending Josh Riley (1600) and Gabriella Perez (200).

Greenfield High will be represented at the semifinals by Anthony Morales (triple jump) and Jimena Hernandez (800).

Gonzales High athletes competing at Soquel are: Justin Tavares (high jump); Robert Gutierrez (high jump); Montserrat Solis (discus), the boys 4 x 100 relay and 4 x 400 relay, and the girls 4 x 400 relay team.

Soledad High’s qualifiers are: Greg Carrillo (800); the boys 4 x 400 relay; Victor Ruano (long jump); and Jocelyn Valdez (100 and 300 hurdles).

The top nine athletes will qualify for the CCS finals on Saturday, June 12, at Soquel.
