KING CITY — King City High’s girls swim team repeated as Cypress League champions last Friday at the Pacific Coast Athletic League Championships at Hartnell College, capturing its second consecutive title after winning last year.
The Lady Mustangs scored 268 points versus Watsonville at 231 and Seaside at 171 to complete a perfect 7-0 record.
Three King City girls took All League in various events. Victoria Jones was All League in the 200-yard IM (2:52.97) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.78). Rebecca Serrano was All League in the 100-yard butterfly (1:33.40) and Sophia Tongson was All League in the 200-yard freestyle (2:49.49).
The Mustang boys swim team also performed well, coming in second place in Cypress League action behind Alisal.
King City’s Antonio Aguilar was All League in the 500-yard freestyle (6:20.02).
Coach Cheryll Hill congratulated all her swimmers for putting in the countless hours of hard work because in her words, “It does pay off.”
