Basketball teams compete in non-league games

With the league seasons a month away, local high school basketball teams are traveling near and far to play in non-league contests.

Soledad High quarterback Robbie SantaAna and King Cityā€™s Clay Barbree were selected as major award winners in the Mission Trail Athletic Leagueā€™s All-League football team.

South County soccer teams prep for league play

Local girls and boys soccer teams began the second week of non-league play last week in preparation for league play that will start in January.

The King City High varsity boys basketball team began the non-league schedule with a pair of wins to start the season at 2-0. King City beat South County rival Gonzales High 56-48 at home in overtime, and cruised by visiting Coast Union, 35-15.

Local karate students earn black belts

Students from Carrilloā€™s Karate Studios in Greenfield and King City earned 1st degree and 2nd degree black belts respectively on Nov. 18 in Milpitas at the Funakoshi Shotakan Studios.
