The Coastal League co-champion King City Lady Mustang softball team met one last final time for an awards night and team banquet last Thursday night in the high school cafeteria.

The King City High varsity boys basketball team began the non-league schedule with a pair of wins to start the season at 2-0. King City beat South County rival Gonzales High 56-48 at home in overtime, and cruised by visiting Coast Union, 35-15.

On Friday night, the Spartans made their own mark on history with a decisive 33-13 victory over the King City Mustangs in front of a supportive crowd at Dick Force Stadium.

In the final tune-up before the start of non-league play, South County high school football teams took the field last Friday at the South County Jamboree, hosted by Soledad High School at the Gene Martin Stadium.
