Two of the younger members of the King City and San Ardo Boxing Clubs traveled to Merced on Saturday to fight at the Mexican Independence Day Boxing Show that was hosted by the Haro Brothers Boxing Club.

Two big plays in the first half sparked the King City Mustang football team to a 34-0 victory over the host Greenfield Bruins on Friday night in Greenfield. The game was the season opener for King City, while the Bruins lost their second straight non-league game.

Lady Mustangs down Vikings at home

The King City Lady Mustang volleyball team swept the visiting North Salinas Vikings 3-0 last week at home Aug. 28. King City beat their foes from Salinas, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-19.

Lady Mustangs sweep Trojans, 3-0

Grace Shepherd had 17 kills and five blocks as the King City Lady Mustang volleyball swept host Alisal High ā€” 25-20, 29-27 and 25-14 ā€” last Thursday night at the Trojan gym in Salinas. The game was the first non-league of the season for King City.

South County football teams gather for annual jamboree

In the final tune-up before the start of non-league play, South County high school football teams took the field last Friday at the South County Jamboree, hosted by Soledad High School at the Gene Martin Stadium.

King City volleyball teams start season

The King City High Lady Mustang and Lady Bronco volleyball team got a chance test themselves against league opponents last Saturday as they participated in the Gabilan Division varsity and junior varsity jamborees at Salinas and Hollister. King City is now a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Leagueā€™s Gabilan Division.

Players prep for South County Jamboree this Friday in Soledad

Weeks of training will be put to the test on Friday as football teams from King City, Greenfield, Gonzales and host Soledad High suit up for the South County Jamboree.
