GRIEF WORKSHOP

SALINAS — Hospice Giving Foundation is hosting a special grief workshop, “Coping with Grief During the Holidays,” on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Madonna del Sasso Parish, 320 E. Laurel Drive in Salinas. The 90-minute presentation will offer ways to manage grief during the holiday season, and this year will include a special segment to explore how to honor loved ones with arts and crafts. YMCA SPOOKTACULAR

SALINAS — All six locations of the Central Coast YMCA will offer chills and thrills during the Halloween season with its Spooktacular 2021 this October. These events will feature trick-or-treat stations, haunted house, arts and crafts, costume parade and more fun for the whole family, all free to the community. In Salinas, the times and dates are: Friday, Oct. 15, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Salinas YMCA; Saturday, Oct. 30, 2 to 4 p.m., Salinas Aquatic Center; and Saturday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sherwood Tennis Center. ADVISORY COUNCIL

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Department of Social Services is seeking interested older adults and family caregivers to serve on its Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, which plays an important role in services and support for local residents. The council provides advocacy and input to DSS, which administers the funding, planning, development and coordination of services for adults age 60-plus and individuals with disabilities who live in Monterey County.
