FOOD DISTRIBUTION
SOLEDAD — Soledad Police Department is hosting a free holiday food distribution on Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The drive-thru event is for Soledad residents only, and will take place behind the police station in the 200 block of Soledad Street. Other local Thanksgiving food distributions are also taking place Tuesday in Greenfield and King City (see poster below for details).
WINDOW DECORATING
KING CITY — King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture’s Annual Business Window Decorating Contest is featuring the theme, “Hometown Holiday.” Businesses that plan to participate this year must contact the Chamber at 831-385-3814 or [email protected] to register. Deadline is Nov. 23 by 4 p.m., with judging taking place on Dec. 1.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
SALINAS — With a return to in-person lunches this holiday season, Interim Inc. is seeking volunteer assistance. Each year, Interim serves holiday lunches on Thanksgiving and Christmas days at the OMNI Resource Center in Salinas that are attended by more than 200 Interim clients and other community members. Interim needs 30 volunteers to help transport, serve food and provide light musical entertainment during each of the lunches. Volunteers will be needed in the morning before lunch is served as well as during the lunch.
BONUS BRIEF: POP-UP PANTRY
SALINAS VALLEY — Hartnell College will host a pop-up pantry food distribution for students in South Monterey County on Tuesdays, Nov. 29 and Dec. 6. The distribution will take place at 11 a.m., while supplies last, at the King City Education Center, 117 N. Second St., and the Soledad Education Center, 1505 Metz Road. It is open to enrolled Hartnell students, who must bring their Hartnell ID to receive one bag each.
