CESAR CHAVEZ DAY
MONTEREY COUNTY — The County of Monterey is celebrating Cesar Chavez Day on Monday, March 31. Chavez was an American civil rights leader advocating for the rights and safety of farmworkers. All branch libraries of Monterey County Free Libraries will be closed on Saturday, March 29, in recognition of this holiday. The Seaside Branch and the Administrative Offices will be closed on March 31, as well.
CLUB ANNIVERSARY
KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 1, at 11:30 a.m. at The Cork & Plough restaurant, 200 Broadway, in King City. The club will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. Members will recall and speak about joining the club, and members from other California Federation of Republican Women clubs will attend. FREE TIRE RECYCLING
SALINAS VALLEY — Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority will be holding a Tire Amnesty Event starting Saturday, April 5, through Saturday, May 31, during which residents can dispose of their used tires for free at its three facilities. The event is only for residents (no businesses) who can recycle car and small truck tires, with or without rims. There is a limit of nine tires per trip. The facility locations are: Salinas, Madison Lane Recycling & HHW Facility, 1104 Madison Lane; Gonzales, Johnson Canyon Landfill, 31400 Johnson Canyon Road; and King City, Jolon Road Transfer Station, 52654 Jolon Road.
