RUSTIC REMAKE

KING CITY — Rustic Remake, an annual arts and craft show, returns for a fourth time to the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free event features Central Coast vendors, who will be on hand with antiques, art, furniture, jewelry, clothing and more inside the fairgrounds’ Orradre Building, 625 Division St. A Friday Night Preview will also take place on Feb. 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with admission.


GANAS GUESTS

SALINAS — One of the most decorated coaches in Central Coast history, Art Berlanga will be the next guest on “Ganas — Leading from the Heart” podcast on Feb. 21. The coach, author and motivational speaker will discuss his best-selling book, “The Impact of Influence,” which lays out his philosophy on life and how to empower people. On March 7, the podcast welcomes Salinas businessman and philanthropist Ollie Lowe, the owner of Lowe Packaging Group and founder of the annual Operation Give Back Toy Drive. “Ganas” episodes are available on Apple Podcasts, or through the GBA website gilbasketballacademy.com.


COMMISSION SEATS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County residents with an interest in the operation and organization of local governments are invited to apply for two Public Member seats with four-year terms on the Local Agency Formation Commission of Monterey County. Appointments to represent the general public will be made by the 11-member Commission, which is an independent countywide body that regulates the boundaries of cities and special districts, establishes Spheres of Influence, and conducts studies of government services. The application deadline is Feb. 24, and forms can be found at monterey.lafco.ca.gov.

SALINAS — CalAsian Chamber of Commerce will host its first Listening Tour of the year with Assemblymember Robert Rivas on Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 1 to 2 p.m. The Listening Tour series provides opportunities for the community to engage with the elected officials that represent them, ask their questions and expand their networks throughout California.
