HOLIDAY CELEBRATION

GREENFIELD — The City of Greenfield will host the 2023 Holiday Celebration at the Village Green Park on Friday, Dec. 8. The park celebration and holiday performances begin at 5 p.m., followed by the holiday parade from 6:10 to 6:50 p.m. and the tree lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. The parade starts at Memorial Hall and travels along El Camino Real. COUNCIL VACANCY

SOLEDAD — A special municipal election will be held in the City of Soledad on March 5, 2024, for the purpose of electing one person to fill a vacancy on the Soledad City Council. The term of the vacant position will run through Nov. 3, 2026. The City’s special election will be consolidated with the Statewide Presidential Primary Election to be held on the same date. The nomination filing period to qualify as an official candidate will close Friday, Dec. 8. Interested registered voters of the City of Soledad may obtain nomination papers by making an appointment with the City Election Official at the Office of the City Clerk during regular business hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at Soledad City Hall, 248 Main St., in Soledad. TOY DRIVE

KING CITY — The City of King is a co-sponsor of Operation Santa again this year, an event that will provide food and toys to over 500 families in need in the community during the holidays. The toy drive to support the Dec. 14 event is underway. Those who want to help can donate new, unwrapped toys or blankets. A donation box can be found in the lobby of City Hall, 212 S. Vanderhurst Ave., in King City.

MONTEREY COUNTY — Friday, Dec. 8, marks the end of the candidate filing period for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. Candidate forms will be available only during the official filing period and must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday. Official nomination documents will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the filing period at the Monterey County Elections Department, 1441 Schilling Place – North Building, Salinas.
