Monterey County’s Covid-19 testing sites expand hours to meet demand

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County’s state-supported Covid-19 testing sites located in Seaside, Salinas and Soledad are expanding hours in response to an increase in demand for testing.

The community testing sites will be adding additional days and appointment times as a result, announced Monterey County Health Department in a news release Thursday.

The Seaside site, located at the Salvation Army’s Community Center, will be open Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., starting this Saturday, Jan. 22.

The Salinas site, located at Sherwood Hall, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, starting Tuesday, Jan. 25.

The Soledad site, located at Soledad Library, remains open Tuesday through Saturday but is changing hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with additional staff to increase availability beginning Jan. 25.

Appointments are strongly recommended, as walk-ins are only taken as supplies allow. Schedule appointments by visiting https://lhi.care/covidtesting, or call 211 for assistance.

Although demand for testing has increased, there has also been a high number of no-shows for appointments at all three testing sites, according to the Monterey County Health Department.

“If you cannot make an appointment, please cancel it,” the Health Department stated. “This allows others to find testing appointments more easily.”
