Mended Hearts comes to Mee Memorial Hospital

KING CITY — Mended Hearts is a national and community-based non-profit organization that has been offering the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers. The King City Chapter will be holding its first meeting Wednesday, June 21, 5 to 6 p.m. at Mee Memorial’s Olivia Café.

These meetings are open to the public and any member of the community who has been affected by heart disease are encouraged to come, this includes patients, their caregivers and any family or friends that may find comfort in the support.

The King City local community chapter is a pilot program for rural hospitals and will be a model for the rest of small rural hospitals of the United States. Members listen, share their experiences and volunteer to talk to other heart patients about what they may face, including lifestyle changes, depression, recovery and treatment.

Monthly meetings will include guest speakers with topics that help support healing and answer questions.

Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts has 300 chapters in North America, serving more than 460 hospitals, and is the largest peer-to-peer heart patient support network in the world. It has been offering hope and support for 65 years, visiting more than 200,000 patients every year. Mended Hearts provides education, support and hope to all types of heart patients and their families.

Community members are asked to pre-register.
