We must hold school board accountable

I would like to thank all of the 3,367 registered voters who voted for me. Out of the 12,258 voters in South County, I personally reached out to 10,747 at their home address. If they were home sheltering in place, we talked. If not, then I left a flier.

The Monterey County Elections Office mailed out 12,258 ballots (100%). In the South Monterey County Joint Union High School District, only 5,958 ballots (48%) were returned to the elections office. This means 6,300 ballots did not arrive or were not counted at the elections office. That is 52% missing. What happened?

In King City, one city council member was voted in with only six votes. What happened to the 900 to 1,100 ballots in that district? Did those voters forget that there was an election, did they care, did they refuse to vote or were they not counted at the elections office? What happened?

Per the Department of Education in Sacramento, the South Monterey County Joint Union High School District is failing with an F for over 25 years. The district’s educational program is failing our children. That’s like our school buses are cruising on three flat tires. At what point are we going to repair that problem so our children can keep up with the rest of the world at 55 mph?

We cannot continue to drive on Highway 101 at 20 mph and let the world pass our children by, leaving them behind. The school board is responsible. We the people have to hold them accountable. If there is no progress two years from now, we the people will have again an opportunity to save our children in the next election.

Currently the people have spoken, they voted to make no change. Continue with the same failing program. You the people deserve the government that you voted for.
