As business owners and residents of King City, we are dedicated to helping this community reach its greatest potential. That is why we started a fitness academy in King City. We consider this community our home and we have made friends that we hold dear.
There have been many improvements in King City that were the result of grants. King City is safer, more attractive and debt-free. However, we have miles to go to take care of the City’s unfunded priority list. We need additional police officers for safety and we need additional equipment at the volunteer fire department. Streets need to be paved and deferred maintenance can only be put off for so long.
There is a 1/2-cent sales tax increase coming up on November’s ballot. If the measure passes, it has the potential of increasing the City of King budget by more than a million dollars. It will also bring us in line with the other cities in Monterey County. Much of the sales tax is collected at the gas pumps and paid by the many travelers who stop in King City. Sales tax is a fair tax because all contribute.
If for some reason this measure does not pass, our back will be to the wall. There is no stretch in the budget. We do not want to lose all the good that has happened in the last 10 years.
Please vote “yes” on Measure P. We need to keep King City moving forward.
