KING CITY — Junior Grace Shepherd finished with 17 kills and senior Megan Flores had 22 assists as the King City Lady Mustangs won their season opener 3-0 over the host Alisal High Trojans last Thursday in the Mustang Gym. Nancy Andrade led King City with 10 digs.

“The girls were very excited to play their first match,” said King City head coach Debbie Hudson. “They played aggressively and I saw some good things. We need to work hard to eliminate mistakes and continue to get better.”

Flores contributed with nine kills, Delany Carroll had six kills, and Cassidy Flores added five kills. Ana Mendez and Julyssa Arreola finished with six and five digs respectively and Cassiday Flores was double-digits in assists with 14.

The Lady Mustangs (1-0) played yesterday in Salinas against the North Salinas Vikings and will host the Seaside Spartans tomorrow night at 6:30 pm.
