SOUTH COUNTY — Wins over Greenfield and Anzar gave the King City Lady Mustangs a 10-4 league record and in a first-place tie with the Lady Bruins in the Coastal League standings.

On April 30 the Lady Mustangs outslugged Greenfield 20-9. Megan Flores and Julie Arreola hit home runs and wend 5 x 5 at the plate.

Flores had three runs batted in and Arreola finished with six RBIs. Kaili Holt pitched and had five strikeouts while banging out four strikeouts. Buddy Camacho hit a double and had an RBI and Brooke Tidwell was 3 x 4 with a double and an RBI.

On May 4 King City played Anzar and downed the Hawks by a 20-2 tally. Holt hit a triple and had three RBIs. There were many walks and hits against the short-handed Hawks who played just nine players in the contest.

King City completes the Coastal League regular season today against the visiting York School Falcons.

The Greenfield varsity softball team recovered from the league loss to King City and a 28-5 setback against the North Salinas Vikings to edge the Trinity Christian Warriors by a 15-14 score. Greenfield is now 10-4 in the Coastal League and in a first-place tie with King City.

Greenfield will host Anzar today in the last league game of the year.
