KING CITY — King City Police Department will participate in a department-wide training session called “Blue Courage, The Heart and Mind of a Guardian” today and tomorrow, April 20 and 21.
According to the police department, this two-day training session is an “education process designed to ensure the development of a highly evolved police officer who is prepared at any moment to reflect the best of what policing demands.”
“It is designed to forge a culture of leadership, character and service in the spirit of what democratic policing promises its citizenry,” police said in a news release. “It is a process aimed at developing the right ‘Heartset, Mindset, Skillset and Toolset,’ enabling officers to meet the demands of modern policing.”
A grant from the Bureau of Justice Administration funded the training, which is “yet one more step in the efforts of the police department and city administration to provide the officers the training and tools to reach the community and rebuild the community trust,” the release said.
Instructors from the Blue Courage team will present the training session at the King City Police Department. In order to train the entire department at once, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department will provide patrol services in the city during the training.
