KING CITY — The public is invited to attend the 34th annual joint meeting of the King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and the King City Rotary Club on Wednesday, June 17, at noon to promote Beautification Week.

The luncheon will take place at the DeAnza building in San Lorenzo Park and is being sponsored by WM. The event is free, but those planning to attend must RSVP with the Chamber office by Monday, June 15, by calling 831-385-3814 or emailing kc**************@*************er.com.

Lunch will feature a hamburger barbecue prepared by the King City Rotary BBQ crew.

The program will include Beautification Awards recognizing individuals and groups who have contributed to improving the appearance of the community. Speakers also will discuss several events planned in conjunction with the 2026 Beautification Week.

Among the upcoming activities is a citywide yard sale scheduled for June 19-21. Garage sale permit fees will be waived during the event.

A free compost giveaway and workshop hosted by Salinas Valley Recycles and WM is planned for Saturday, June 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St. Participants will learn how to compost at home and can take home compost at no charge.

The annual Community Drop-off Event will take place prior to Beautification Week on Saturday, June 13, at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. Sponsored by WM, the event will allow residents to dispose of bulky items and household hazardous waste from 8 to 10:30 a.m., or until dumpsters are full.

Also on June 13, King City in Bloom will sponsor a litter pickup event from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. Gloves, bags, coffee and donuts will be provided.

Organizers said the goal of Beautification Week, now in its 34th year, is to encourage everyone who lives and works in King City to “do one thing to improve the appearance of their property.”

Beautification Week is scheduled for June 20-28 and is jointly sponsored by the King City Chamber of Commerce in partnership with WM, Salinas Valley Recycles, the City of King and King City in Bloom.
