GREENFIELD — A 19-year-old Greenfield man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon while washing a car outside a local residence.

According to the South County Major Crimes Investigations Unit, Greenfield police officers responded to a call of shots being fired Jan. 13 at about 3:11 p.m. in the 200 block of Seventh Street, where they found a Hispanic male lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as Charles Adolfo Jose, 19, of Greenfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the suspect — described as a Hispanic adult male between 5-foot-6 and 6 feet tall with a medium build and wearing a charcoal-colored hoodie, black pants and white shoes — approached the victim outside the home and shot several rounds from a handgun at him.

“The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction,” police said in a news release.

The suspect is still at large, and no other details have been released at this time.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Det. Leo Guzman at 831-888-7168 or Det. Joshue Partida at 831-386-5991 of the Major Crimes Investigations Unit, which is a collaboration of the Greenfield and King City police departments.
