KING CITY — Community members came out in droves last Sunday for King City’s first Ciclovía, featuring a day of recreation that promoted wellness and healthy lifestyles.

An estimated crowd of 1,000 people attended the April 14 event, which closed downtown streets for four hours so that they could be used for such activities as bicycling, walking, skate boarding, roller blading and dancing.

Resource booths, food and entertainment were also included along the Broadway Street route, from First Street to Mildred Avenue. Free bikes and helmets were distributed to youth as well.

Ciclovía King City was presented by the Monterey County Health Department, Building Healthy Communities and the City of King.
