KING CITY — Coastal Division Mobile Road Enforcement Officer Christopher Menchen has been recognized with a Commissioner’s Commendation for his work in detecting and investigating human trafficking cases, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On April 1, CHP Assistant Commissioner Rodney Ellison visited the CHP-King City Area office to present the award, recognizing Menchen for his efforts while on patrol and his role in identifying and investigating human trafficking activity.

“Officer Menchen is making a difference every day while on patrol. He is commended for his vigilance and hard work while on the beat,” CHP said.

Many of Menchen’s peers attended the presentation, along with Coastal Division Assistant Chief Kyle Foster and Coastal Division Special Commander Capt. Eric Zivic.

CHP officials said human trafficking is a crime that exploits vulnerable individuals and often occurs in plain sight. The department remains committed to combating human trafficking through enforcement and community partnerships.

Anyone with information about suspected human trafficking or who needs assistance can contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text INFO to 233733.
