KING CITY — This fall, Chalone Peaks Middle School in King City saw its athletes excel on both the soccer field and volleyball court, with impressive performances from both the boys’ soccer teams and the girls’ volleyball squads. From championship wins to undefeated seasons, the students demonstrated their dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout a season to remember.

Girls’ Volleyball: Undefeated 8th graders dominate, 6th/7th graders finish 3rd

Chalone Peaks Middle School’s girls’ volleyball program enjoyed a successful season, with notable performances across all grade levels.

The sixth/seventh-grade girls’ volleyball team fought hard and secured a third-place finish at the Woodrow Classic Tournament, demonstrating impressive skill development and teamwork.

“These girls are great players,” commented Coach Andrea Lozano. “Even though we took a couple losses, they still showed up with great attitude and sportsmanship. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

The eighth-grade girls’ volleyball team had a truly remarkable season, finishing undefeated and claiming Soledad’s Woodrow Classic Tournament championship. Their dominant play, coupled with their seamless teamwork and consistent focus, allowed them to dominate their competition.

“From beginning to the end, I think we all had the same goal, and everyday everybody came ready wanting to accomplish that goal of winning a championship,” said Coach Angel Trujillo. “We had a great group of girls that were really supportive of each other and worked hard everyday.”

The seventh-grade boys’ soccer team brought home the championship trophy, capping off an outstanding season with strong performances in every match. Their teamwork, determination and skill were key to their success.

“This was a special group of players. Going undefeated in all eight regular season games, scoring 57 goals while allowing only two, speaks for itself,” Coach Refugio Garcia stated. “Winning the end-of-season tournament was the perfect finish to an incredible season. I couldn’t be prouder of how they came together as a team and made it all happen.”

Meanwhile, the eighth-grade boys’ soccer team finished their season in third place — an achievement that highlights their resilience and growth over the course of the season.

“While the outcome may not have been exactly as we’d hoped … it’s important to recognize the effort and perseverance they’ve shown these past weeks,” commented Coach Jose Valadez.

Their third-place finish sets a strong foundation for future success as they head into high school sports.
