KING CITY — Twin Creeks and King City Golf Courses in Monterey County hosted a special holiday celebration honoring the accomplishments of students involved with First Tee – Monterey County.

The Dec. 10 event, held in partnership with AT&T, showcased the organizations’ shared commitment to fostering character development, educational opportunities and digital equity among youth.

A major highlight of the event was AT&T’s contribution to closing the digital divide.

Bettye Saxon, manager of external affairs at AT&T, underscored the company’s dedication to promoting digital equity. As part of this effort, AT&T donated more than 60 refurbished iPads, complete with chargers and earbuds, to students from the Salinas Union High School Migrant Resource Program, King City Union and Bradley school districts and North Monterey County Unified School District.

“The collaboration between AT&T and First Tee aims to empower youth with educational opportunities and connectivity resources,” stated First Tee in a news release.

Nick Nelson, CEO of First Tee – Monterey County, joined Saxon in celebrating this partnership and its impact on local students.

Other guests included Monterey County District 1 Supervisor Luis Alejo, King City Councilmember Oscar Avalos and District Representative for State Sen. John Laird Marissa Hernandez.

First Tee – Monterey County is one of 150 chapters of First Tee, a global organization that uses the game of golf to teach life skills and values. The chapter reaches children and teens through its two program locations and partnerships with 12 schools across seven districts. For more information, visit FirstTeeMontereyCounty.org.
