SALINAS VALLEY — California Water Service (Cal Water) has announced changes in local leadership for the utility’s King City and Salinas districts, effective Jan. 15.

Salinas District Manager Brenda Granillo will be away from the office until July 2021, resulting in Marc Bloom stepping in as interim district manager in Salinas and Gary Vincelet replacing Bloom as interim local manager for King City.

Bloom started his Cal Water career in April 2005 as a temporary laborer in the Salinas District. He has served in numerous roles during his Cal Water career in both the Salinas and King City districts, including utility worker, superintendent, customer service manager and interim assistant district manager. He most recently served as the King City District’s local manager.

Bloom holds Water Treatment Grade Two and Water Distribution Grade Four certifications from the State Water Resources Control Board.

Vincelet started his Cal Water career in March 1990 as an operation maintenance worker in the utility’s Salinas District, providing him with more than 30 years of Cal Water operations experience. He has held numerous positions since then, including meter reader, inspector, foreman, certified pump operator, serviceperson, locator–inspector, cross-connection control specialist and superintendent.

Vincelet holds Water Treatment Grade Two and Water Distribution Grade Three certifications from the State Water Resources Control Board.

“Marc and Gary are intimately familiar with our Salinas Valley water systems, and they are excellent operators who will serve their respective communities well,” said Director of Field Operations Darin Duncan. “I am confident each district will flourish under their leadership, and our customers will all continue to receive the quality, service, and value that has become synonymous with Cal Water.”

Cal Water serves about 138,600 people through 34,300 service connections in Salinas and King City and about 2 million people through 489,600 service connections in California. The utility has provided water service in the area since 1962.
