CARMEL — Adrian Lopez threw a three-hitter and struck out seven batters for the Soledad baseball team to earn a 5-1 pitching win over the host Carmel Padres last Friday afternoon.

Lopez produced two runs in the game offensively and Isaac Lopez had two hits and two runs batted in. Ben Pajas contributed with two hits and two RBIs.

Soledad took a 3-0 first inning lead and added two runs in the top of the third inning. In the JV contest the Aztecs were beaten 12-4 by the Padres. Jonathan Ramirez threw five innings and went 2 x 3 at the plate. Frankie Parra went 3 x 4 with two runs RBIs.

In the first game of the series between the Aztecs and Padres in Soledad, the Aztecs held a 4-0 lead until the top of the fifth inning when Carmel scored five runs. A two-run homer by the Padres Joey Pinto gave the Padres the 5-4 lead. Soledad fell to 7-1 in the Mission Trail Athletic League and 12-2 overall.

The Soledad JV team was shut 8-0 in their game. Andrew Alonzo threw five innings and allowed four runs.

Yesterday the Aztecs continued league play with a game at Stevenson and will host the Pirates on Friday afternoon on the Soledad diamond.
