KING CITY — The Rabobank King City location has a new branch manager, Oscar Avalos, who began his new role March 15.

Avalos began his journey in banking in 2009 with Wells Fargo as a teller and quickly became a personal banker. In June 2012, Avalos transferred to Rabobank and served in the role of financial service officer.

Avalos became the banking services officer in 2016, and in March 2017 became the branch manager.

“We want customer service to be one of the priorities that we have,” Avalos said. “We like to keep that community feel. When you walk in we try to make it a point to know the people that come in.”

Avalos’ said knowing customers by name and saying hello as well as asking about family is the feel the bank is going for to differentiate themselves from other banking establishments.

Rabobank strives for community involvement and Avalos is no stranger to community involvement. Avalos served as a judge for the Miss Salinas Valley Fair competition this past March in his new position.

“I was completely out of my element,” Avalos said. “I don’t have any experiences around horses or roping, but it was fun.”

Avalos is also a Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture board member on the committees for King City El Grito celebration and the King City Sales Tax Advisory.

Avalos’ new role includes managing daily operations and personal and business lending activities at the branch.

Avalos is a King City High School alumnus and moved to King City in 2005.
