KING CITY — Work continues on Broadway Street to improve the overall look of downtown King City, as local businesses last week began the removal of outdated awnings and poles along the sidewalk.
New cloth awnings will be installed soon, and the City of King plans to plant trees outside the storefronts, which include L.A. Men’s Wear and the religious center, Iglesia Jesucristo Rey de Reyes. Across the street, new awnings have already been installed at Kasey’s Fitness Academy and further north at the local Masonic Lodge.
According to City Manager Steve Adams, the renovations were recommended as part of the City’s downtown improvement plan. The businesses are responsible for the work, but the City is providing grants through its façade enhancement program for those located in the 300 block of Broadway.
“We hope to facilitate additional improvements on that block, which will eventually tie into the downtown plaza planned for the corner of Broadway and Vanderhurst,” Adams said.
