ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS
SOLEDAD — Several community events are scheduled in Soledad over the upcoming weekend, focusing on recycling, donations and environmental efforts. The Goodwill donation drive will take place on Sept. 27 and 28 at California Gourmet Pizza, located at 235 West St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents can donate clothing, linens, shoes, jewelry, books, electronics and sporting goods to support South County Animal Rescue and local employment initiatives, with exclusions including paint, mattresses, large furniture and hazardous materials. On Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Soledad residents can participate in the free Reuse, Recycle and Cleanup Day at Soledad High School, where they can dispose of electronics, appliances and general waste; furniture and yard waste are not accepted. As an added incentive, residents can bring used oil filters and receive up to two free replacement filters. During this event, a free compost giveaway will also be held while supplies last.
CPR TRAINING
KING CITY — City of King is offering a free CPR and First Aid class for city staff, local agencies, businesses and residents. The training is provided at no cost thanks to a grant from the Bay Area Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI). Additional sessions are scheduled for Sept. 29 and 30, with various times to choose from. Participants only need to attend one session, which is limited to 26 students per class. The classes will be held at King City Hall, located at 212 S. Vanderhurst Ave. To sign up, visit bit.ly/3Kb39Nc. For more information, call 831-385-3281.
