When the 2022 Monterey County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) was released, behavioral health was identified as one of the region’s top priorities—underscoring a critical shortage of mental health providers and support systems across the County.

In response, Mee Memorial Healthcare System (MMHS) launched a partnership with Mood Health—a modern virtual behavioral health platform—designed to make high-quality mental health care more accessible to our community.  Mood Health offers a suite of services, including therapy and medication management—delivered in both English and Spanish—and tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

This collaboration underscores Mee Memorial’s commitment to delivering compassionate, culturally responsive mental health care for South County residents.

Through Mood Health, patients now have access to:

  • Licensed therapists
  • Psychiatric providers for diagnosis and medication management
  • Flexible appointment options
  • Bilingual care teams
  • Seamless care coordination with Mee Memorial’s primary care providers

These behavioral health services are now woven into our broader mission of delivering quality care close to home—ensuring no one falls through the cracks.

At Mee Memorial, we understand that mental health is inseparable from physical health, economic security, family dynamics and overall community well-being. Adding behavioral health to our list of services means that we are laying the groundwork for a stronger, happier, and healthier community.

It’s also important to note that this initiative supports our local youth, who are among the most severely affected by the behavioral health crisis. Young people in Southern Monterey County need and deserve quality mental health support. Mee Memorial’s behavioral health offerings include support for adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, and major life challenges, creating safe spaces where healing and resilience can grow.

Mee Memorial’s partnership with Mood Health is not a one-time solution—it’s part of an ongoing commitment to meet the evolving behavioral health needs of Monterey County residents. We continue to closely listen to patients and our community to ensure that our services are effective and meet their needs.

By responding to the CHNA with real action, Mee Memorial is leading the way in rural behavioral health innovation and reaffirming our commitment to caring for the whole person—mind, body and spirit.

At a time when behavioral health needs have never been greater, Mee Memorial is responding with compassion, collaboration, and commitment—helping to shape a brighter, more resilient future for all.
