KING CITY — A bench honoring long-time King City resident Paula Martinez was dedicated June 24 at the U.S. Forest Service Monterey Ranger District Office on South Mildred Avenue in King City.

Martinez, who died in 2023, was a 30-plus year employee of the Forest Service. She served in many roles during her time with the agency, including visitor information, public information officer for fire and human resources.

On hand for the dedication was Martinez’s husband, George, and her daughter, Denise, as well as dozens of current and former USFS staff members, friends, partners and community members.

The event was part of the USFS annual Family Day. Attendees enjoyed stories of employees past and present concerning all areas of the Forest Service. 

The Monterey Ranger District Office is located at 406 S. Mildred Ave. in King City.
